BAGUIO CITY — Benguet Corporation, the country’s pioneering natural resources development company, was hailed as one of Benguet’s Top 10 taxpayers during the recent Gong Awards for Business Achievement and Yield (Gabay).
The honor highlights Benguet Corp.’s commitment to social responsibility through its tax contributions, which help drive the province’s growth and development.
The award was accepted by Benguet Corp.’s – Benguet Gold Operation Administration Manager Atty. Froilan Roger C. Lawilao during the revelries at Newton Plaza Hotel in Baguio City last November 8, 2024.
Benguet Province Vice Governor Erickson L. Felipe said, “death and taxes are only certain in this world,” highlighting the importance of taxes in building communities. The remaining speakers outlined potential partnerships between local government units and private companies, offering guidelines for collaboration and emphasizing how local tax contributions drive community growth and development.
Gabay is part of the month-long Adivay Festival, which celebrates businesses and individuals who excel in their fields and support local progress.
Tax contributions, like those from Benguet Corp., have been integral in funding local government initiatives, which include infrastructure projects, social services, and community development.
The event also included discussions on Public-Private Partnerships, covering topics such as PPP concepts and frameworks, joint ventures, and collaborative agreements between local government units and private entities. These highlight the synergy between the public and private sectors geared towards sustainable development.
